Evercade Nexus

The Evercade Nexus is the biggest and most capable handheld Evercade device to date, built specifically for 32 and 64-bit retro gaming. With dual analogue sticks, a large bright IPS screen, WiFi 6, and the exclusive EverSync local multiplayer feature, it represents a significant step up from previous Evercade handhelds.

DISPLAY

The Nexus features the largest screen ever seen on an Evercade handheld — a 5.89″ IPS panel running at 840×512 resolution with over 500 nits of brightness. To put that in context, the EXP-R has a 4.3″ screen at 800×480, and the Super Pocket runs a 2.8″ display at 320×240. This extra real estate makes a noticeable difference for 3D and arcade titles.

CONTROLS

For the first time on an Evercade handheld, the Nexus includes dual analogue sticks alongside the traditional D-pad and face buttons, plus rear bumpers and triggers. The body has a textured grip for comfort during longer sessions. This control layout is designed around the 32 and 64-bit games that make up the Nexus-era cartridge library — titles that simply could not be played properly on earlier Evercade hardware.

EVERSYNC — LOCAL WIRELESS MULTIPLAYER

EverSync is an exclusive Nexus feature that enables local wireless multiplayer between two Evercade Nexus units without needing an internet connection or a router. Notably, only one player needs to own the cartridge — EverSync allows the game to be shared with the second device wirelessly. This is a first for the Evercade ecosystem and opens up co-op and versus play on the go.

TATE MODE

TATE mode makes a welcome return on the Nexus, allowing the screen to rotate to a vertical orientation for arcade games that were originally designed to run on vertical cabinets. Button mapping rotates to match, so classic vertical shooters and arcade titles can be played exactly as originally intended.

AUDIO

The Nexus includes dual front-facing stereo speakers — an upgrade over the single speaker found on previous Evercade handhelds. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack and support for wireless headphones for private listening.

BATTERY & CHARGING

A 5,000mAH battery provides 5+ hours of gameplay. Charging is via USB-C (a USB-C to USB-A cable is included; a mains adapter is not). The recommended charge rate is 5V/2A.

RGB LOGO

The Nexus features a light-up RGB logo on the front of the device. The colour and behaviour can be customised from within the system menu.
