New to Evercade? You’re in the right place. This page covers everything you need to know — what Evercade is, which device to choose, how the game library works, and where to start.
WHAT IS EVERCADE?
Evercade is a retro gaming platform from UK developer Blaze Entertainment, built around physical cartridges containing officially licensed retro games. Unlike emulation boxes or digital-only services, every Evercade cartridge is a proper physical release — with a numbered full-colour manual, real artwork, and a permanent place on your shelf.
Each cartridge contains a curated collection of games from a single publisher or theme — think Atari, Namco, Data East, Rare, Technos, and dozens more. The library spans consoles, home computers, and arcades, covering everything from the early 80s through to the late 90s. There are also indie and homebrew cartridges featuring modern games made in a retro spirit.
The big appeal: every cartridge works on every Evercade device. Build your collection once and it plays on any hardware you own — handheld, home console, or bartop arcade.
THE HARDWARE
Evercade currently has several devices in the lineup, each suited to a different style of play:
- Evercade Nexus — the flagship handheld. Large 5.89″ IPS screen, dual analogue sticks, WiFi 6, and EverSync local wireless multiplayer. Built for 32 and 64-bit titles. Launching October 2026.
- Evercade EXP-R — the current premium handheld. 4.3″ screen, built-in games, landscape form factor. A great all-rounder for handheld play.
- HyperMegaTech! Super Pocket — a compact, affordable handheld. Ideal entry point for new players.
- Evercade VS-R — the home console. Plays on your TV, supports up to 4 players, dual cartridge slots. Great for gaming with friends and family.
- Evercade Alpha — a bartop arcade cabinet with a built-in screen, joystick and buttons. Three editions: Street Fighter, Mega Man, and Taito. A statement piece for any gaming setup.

THE GAME LIBRARY
The Evercade library now spans 80+ cartridges across three categories:
- Console Collections (red cases) — games from home console platforms: NES, SNES, Mega Drive, N64, and more
- Arcade Collections (purple cases) — authentic arcade titles from publishers like Taito, Data East, and NeoGeo
- Home Computer Collections (blue cases) — ZX Spectrum, Amiga, C64, and DOS classics
Browse the complete library — with manual PDFs — on the Evercade Cartridges & Manuals page. For a full searchable list of every individual game, use the Evercade Games Database.
Some older cartridges are no longer in production — these are known as legacy cartridges. They can still be found second-hand on eBay and are fully compatible with all current devices.
HOW THE LIBRARY GREW
Evercade launched in May 2020 with 10 cartridges. In just a few years the library has grown to over 80 collections — spanning dozens of publishers and hundreds of individual games. Read the full story in our post: Evercade Cartridges — How the Library Has Grown.
